Why be wasting your time, or your team's time on repetitive tasks? It makes no sense at all.
'The only solution is to change the system'
During my school days I had a weekly chore of vacuum-cleaning the swimming pool. In those days, at my house, it was a system of connecting the flex-pipes via an adapter at the skimming weir, to a roller-brush on a very long pole, and then gently move up and down the length of the pool - sort of like a lawnmower. I had to work very slowly in order to not disturb the silt at the bottom and have it move into suspension. Well, last night we had an almighty storm (94mm rain in 90min) and this morning it seemed there were more leaves in the pool than water. At 9h30 the auto pool-cleaner activated and by 11h30 (with two basket-trap emptying interventions) the pool was leaf-free. This made me think of the work we do with process-automation. What used to take me a few hours was handled this morning automatically while I did things way more important. My productivity lift from scenario A to scenario B must have been in order of 5 to 10x. This is exactly what process automation can do for you (for the world). Why be wasting your time, or your team’s time on repetitive tasks? It makes no sense at all. Get the ‘pool cleaner’ to do the repetitive work while you focus on matters way more strategic.
